Our Balaklava Racing Tips for Wednesday’s meeting.

Morialta  (Balaklava Race 7 No. 2)
This four-year-old Jimmy Creed gelding trained by Stuart Padman at Murray Bridge has three wins and one place from eight starts. He finished 1.5 lengths 2nd over 1250m at Morphettville Parks on 30 July, then ran on strongly for a 3.4 length win over 1400m at Murray Bridge on 7 August. He has raced at Balaklava twice before and won both times. Should be hard to beat.

How to pick a winner

Each Way

Fight For Freedom (Balaklava Race 9 No. 7):
This six-year-old War gelding trained by Bill Bogarts has five wins and six places from 27 starts. He loomed up then faded in the final 200m to finish 5 lengths 4th over 1522m at Gawler on 18 August, then chased strongly and got there late for a 0.2 length win over 1400m at Murray Bridge on 5 September. Has had a win and fhree places from five starts this campaign and looks an excellent each-way chance.

Strike The Night (Balaklava Race 6 No. 3):
This four-year-old Night of Thunder mare trained by Phillip Stokes is the early favourite in this BM 58 handicap over 1300m. When resuming from a 19 week spell she got to the front but was headed in the final 50m for 0.8 length 4th over 1100m at Morphettville on 14 August, then weakened to the line for 5.9 lengths 7th over 1000m at Morphettville Parks on 4 September. Others look better value and I’m prepared to risk her here.
