Our Morphettville Horse Racing Tips for the weekend.

Gate Crash (Morphettville Race 3 No. 3)
This four-year-old gelding trained by Patrick Payne has four wins and four places from ten starts. He chased steadily from well back in the field for 4.4 lengths 6th over 2100m at Sandown Lakeside on a heavy track on 29 June where he got too far back, then finished 1.4 lengths 3rd over 1700m at Sandown Hillside on heavy going on 20 July. Tends to go well on a soft track and is well-placed here.

Each Way

Pindaric (Morphettville Race 4 No. 4)
It seems a little odd to be tipping a horse that has never run a place as the best each-way bet, as this five-year-old Fastnet Rock gelding has six wins from eight starts and has always either won or been unplaced. He was a 0.4 length winner over 1200m at Morphettville on 16 October, then led early but was headed at the 350m and battled on for 6.5 lengths 6th over 1400m at Flemington on 2 November. Resumes from a 38 week spell and goes well first-up. Looks a great each-way bet.

Best Lay

Jaazeb (Morphettville Race 7 No. 3)
This three-year-old Zebedee gelding trained by Gordon Richards & Damien Moyle is the early favourite in this BM 64 Handicap over 1050m. He battled away for 3.3 lengths 4th in a 3YO Plate over 1200m at Murray Bridge on 2 July, then ran on strongly for 1.9 lengths 3rd in a 3YO Handicap over 1000m at Morphettville Parks on 16 July. Gets a 2kg claim but is still carrying a lot of weight against the older horses. Others look to have his measure.

Horse Racing Tips: VIC Saturday 20th April 2024

Key Comments The rail is true. The best bet comes up in race 3 and only needs a pinch of luck from the barrier to be breaking maiden. Best Bet Beautiful View (Horsham Race 3 No. 1) Needs luck from out there but has been around the mark all this prep and Fry is an ideal booking. Does find the right race here and still looms at backable odds. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Bryce Parker Each

Key Comments The rail is true. The best bet comes up in the last. Best Bet Mishare (Seymour Race 8 No. 6) Likeable return when running 3rd in a race no harder than this. The kind draw and ideal map makes for appeal and there has been good support come race day. Key Comments The rail is true. The best bet comes up in the first race at a short price and is a good multi banker. Best Bet Snippety Star (Orange Race 1 No. 10) All runs to date have been solid and Snippety Star won't get a better chance to win than this. Latham does the riding and the depth here is thin. This race suits and is a good multi banker for the weekend. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Bryce Parker

Key Comments There are 2 features on the meeting. The Mornington Cup (race 8) and the Hareeba Stakes (race 9). The rail is out 9 metres and the best bet is in the first. Best Bet Perspiration (Mornington Race 1 No. 1) Has been excellent to date in 2 runs so far and looks ready to win. Ethan Brown does the steering and you can argue it should have won last start when taken wide and hit the line with plenty of intent.
