Our Gawler Horse Racing Tips for the weekend.

Our Benevento (Gawler Race 7 No. 1)
This six-year-old Helmet mare ran well at this track last start. She was three wide with no cover and battled away for 2.2 lengths 6th over 1100m at Morphettville on 17 October after a very tough run, then led on the rails and held them all at bay for a 0.8 length win over 1100m at Gawler on 5 November. She has had a six week let-up and gets a chance for back-to-back wins on this track.

How to pick a winner

Each Way

The Raven (Gawler Race 5 No. 3):
This six-year-old gelding trained by Kristi Evans at Strathalbyn has three win from eight starts this campaign. He kept chasing solidly to gather in the leader at the 100m and win by 1.1 lengths over 1000m at Morphettville Parks on 14 November, then battled solidly but had enough in the final 100m for 1.1, 2.4 lengths 3rd over 1100m at Penola on 4 December He has a 3kg claim here and looks a nice each-way bet.

Best Lay

Bajan (Gawler Race 2 No. 3):
This six-year-old gelding is the early favourite in this BM 64 Handicap over 1705m. He made late ground for 3.6 lengths 7th over 1350m at Strathalbyn on 29 November, then worked home solidly for 2.7 lengths 6th over 1541m at Morphettville on 12 December. He is on a seven day back-up and will appreciate the extra distance but is no value at the current price.

Horse Racing Tips: VIC Friday 4th October 2024

Key Comments The track is in the good range. The best bet has some strong lines and resumes from a break with Fry in the saddle. Best Bet Colleano (Warrnambool Race 7 No. 1) Brings some tidy form lines into this contest including a debut win over Quickster which reads well for this. Recent jumpouts have been rock solid and Fry does the steering from the kind draw. The early market support is a positive sign. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Bryce

He won on debut over 1100m at Rockhampton then was runner-up over 1000m at Sunshine Coast where he ran on well. The 1200m should suit and he rates highly. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Jo Jackson

Key Comments An evening meeting with the first race at 5.25 pm. The track is a Soft 5 and the rail is +2 metres the entire circuit. As a general rule, runners who land in the front half of the field are suited at this track, with an advantage to those who find the inside lanes in the straight. Best Bet Zulu Angel (Launceston Race 7 No. 2) Zulu Angel won last start over 1650m at Devonport Synthetic after being runner-up 3 times
