Our Doomben Horse Racing Tips for Wednesday’s meeting.

One Shy Ruby (Doomben Race 7 No. 5)
With a first-up win over 1000m on soft going at the Sunshine Coast on 27 December, this four-year-old Rubick mare trained by Chris Anderson now has two wins and five places from 11 starts. That was her first run in 28 weeks and she finished last campaign with 2nd over 1200m at Sunshne Coast on 9 June. Stephanie Thornton retains the ride and she should be hard to beat.

Each Way

Evita La Vie (Doomben Race 5  No. 3):
This five-year-old Sidestep mare trained by Chris Meagher has two wins and six places from 15 starts. At the end  of last campaign she fought hard for 0.2 length 2nd over 1800m at Eagle Farm on 17 September then was spelled for 13 weeks. On resuming she ran on strongly to take over in the final strides for a 0.1 length win over 1400m at Sunshine Coast on 19 December. The rise in distance suits and she looks a great each-way chance.

Best Lay

Daulat Tai Panaziz (Doomben Race 6 No. 9):
This five-year-old Declaration Of War gelding trained by John Holcombe is the early favourite in this BM 70 handicap over 1640m. He fought on near the rail but couldn’t reel in the winner when 0.5 length 2nd over 1840m a Eagle Farm on 6 November, then faded for 3.5 lengths 5th over 1800m at Sunshine Coast on 20 November. Has had a let-up for six weeks and I’m prepared to risk him.

$4.50

The best bet comes up in the first race and looks very hard to beat against these. Best Bet Code In Time (Canberra Race 1 No.3) Maps well from the draw and looks very hard to beat.
