This three-year-old Shooting To Win gelding trained by Steven O’Dea and Matthew Hoysted at Eagle Farm has five wins and two places from nine starts. At the end of last campaign he was caught wide early and winded late for 9.1 lengths 12th in the $2m Magic Millions 3YO Guineas over 1400m at Gold Coast on 16 January before being sent to the spelling paddocks. Resuming after 23 weeks he won by 2 lengths over 1000m at Eagle Farm on 26 June. He has won 2 from 2 second-up and should be very hard to beat.

Explosive Quality (Eagle Farm Race 9 No. 14):
This four-year-old Shooting To Win mare trained by Gillian Heinrich has four wins and six places from 12 starts. She was far too good for the rest winning a Class 3 Handicap by 3.75 lengths over 1300m at Gold Coast on 24 April, then hit the front before fading for 2.5, 0.5 lengths 3rd over 1300m at Gold Coast on 29 May. Has had a seven week let-up and with her great strike-rate is worth an each-way bet.

Word for Word (Eagle Farm Race 7 No. 10):
This five-year-old So You Think mare trained by Chris Waller is the early favourite in this Class 3 Plate over 1400m. She battled on near the rail for 2.7 lengths 4th over 1600m at Eagle Farm on 3 April, then was 3rd on the home turn but winded for 5.65 lengths 8th over 1600m at Eagle Farm on 17 April where she was vetted and found sore in one leg. Resumes from a 13 week spell where she has drawn the outside barrier. With only three wins from 29 starts I’m prepared to risk her here.
