Wonderful Warrior | (Sha Tin Race 1 No.6)

Loved the trial of this son of Rich Enuff. He was well held throughout up the straight and when others in front of him were given the ride-along, Joao let him have a little bit of rein and he just picked them up in a blink. The wide draw is perfect for him on debut, Joao sticks and he looks like he has some talent.

Suggested bet: 1.5 units @ $2.80

Next Best

Navas Two | (Sha Tin Race 10 No.10)

One out in the last here with our boy Navas Two. He was spectacular last start despite having little luck, finishing 2.3 lengths back in third. They are back to his ideal distance of 1400m but unfortunately for the third start in a row, he has drawn the outside barrier. I am expecting a similar run throughout though this looks like a much more winnable race than his previous two.

Suggested bet: 1 unit @ $4.20

The Rest of the Card

Dragon Kingdom | (Sha Tin Race 2 No.6)

Not overly keen on this race. Landed with Dragon Kingdom after what was the best run of his career to date. They decided to remove the blinkers and take a sit from the wide gate which in the end proved fruitful, as he finished the race off well to finish fourth, under two lengths back. Same setup here except he is drawn a gate, so I expect him to sit closer in the run and be thereabouts again.

Suggested bet: No Bet @ $4.50

Enchanting Ibis | (Sha Tin Race 3 No.6)

This is more of a left-field bet but hear me out. This bloke was ordinary on debut, but he was found to have had substantial mucus in his trachea post-race. He has since had the month off and trialled once behind Nervous Witness around the bend and on the pace. I saw a much more improved horse and it’s a shame they haven’t drawn better here. Not sure where they will settle but I do believe we are going to see a much more improved performance and he could be a bolter.

Suggested bet: 0.2 unit @ $21.00

Daily Charm | (Sha Tin Race 4 No.1)

Not keen on this race. I expect this bloke to sit in a nice position from the draw and I think he will run a big race over 1800m. Last start over the mile he looked the winner in the shadows only to be over-run late. I expect him to go close.

Suggested bet: No Bet @ $6.00

Amazing Victory | (Sha Tin Race 5 No.4) / Cheery | (Sha Tin Race 5 No.7)

I like two runners out of the same lead-up race. There looks to be little pace here, so I expect Amazing Victory to either lead or box seat in the run after going close on the pace last start before being over-run late by Country Boy. Drawn better and Teetan sticking, I expect another big run. Cheery was a black booker and I noted that we need a better gate, well we didn’t get it. But he is clearly a danger and will go close once again. He won’t be going around without something on unless it’s super short.

Suggested bet: 0.8 unit @ $5.00 / 0.8 unit @ $5.50

Hong Kong Horse Race

Erimo | (Sha Tin Race 6 No.3) / Apex Top | (Sha Tin Race 6 No.12)

Erimo was a black booker after his debut run where not everything went right but he was able to really come on over the final 400m to narrowly miss. He ended up running thirteenth overall for the final 400m and the second quickest final 200m on a day that was full of talent. The draw isn’t great but does suit his running style and the immediate step up to 1400m suits. Apex Top is coming off dual placings in Class 5 and will come back to Class 4 and since those runs, has trialled brilliantly. I thought he was a rough chance to salute from an okay draw.

Suggested bet: 1.6 units @ $2.60 / 0.3 unit @ $15.00

Nervous Witness | (Sha Tin Race 7 No.1) / Carroll Street | (Sha Tin Race 7 No.5)

Old favourite Nervous Witness is heading up the straight once again after a crushing win at Happy Valley last start. Blake Shinn takes over from Zac Purton as I believe Zac had a prior engagement to Stoltz but despite this, Shinn took him to the trials and has got a feel for him. His best wins this, let’s hope the price is okay. Carroll Street is the one who will camp off this pace and will love being back up the straight. I am expecting a much more improved run.

Suggested bet: 1.7 units @ $2.40 / 0.9 unit @ $4.60

Running Glory | (Sha Tin Race 8 No.4) / Darci Joy | (Sha Tin Race 8 No.13)

This is a cracking race with at least half a dozen chances. Running Glory is a favourite of ours and is having a good season. He was caught wide without cover from the 900m and was still too good for them over the mile last start. 1800m is exciting for this fella and Joao sticking is ideal. He has drawn ideally so sit closer in the run and do little work throughout. He will be flying late. Darci Joy went to the Valley for the first time last start and was actually quite good for his first look at the track, and it was his first go at Class 3. Back to Sha Tin suits though the draw is awkward. I am expecting a good run.

Suggested bet: 1.3 units @ $3.10 / 0.5 unit @ $9.00

Buzzinga | (Sha Tin Race 9 No.1) / Packing Treadmill | (Sha Tin Race 9 No.5)

This race is brilliant and I am expecting one of these two unbeaten runners to remain unbeaten. Buzzinga won first-up in impressive fashion and was strong to the line. He, unfortunately, has drawn wide but that could work in his favour if he strides forward and obtains cover. His figures first-up were good and I expect significant improvement. Packing Treadmill has run two identical figures in his two wins. Like his rival, he has drawn wide here and will likely head forward and across. This will be his first go at Class 3 but he gives every indication that he will handle the step up in grade.

Suggested bet: 0.9 unit @ $4.80 / 1 unit @ $4.40
