Our Canberra Racing Tips for Wednesdays meeting.

Land Ahoy (Canberra Race 6 No. 5)
This three-year-old Dundeel filly trained by John Sargent at Randwick has two wins and one place from five starts. When she resumed after 20 weeks at Hawkesbury on 9 February she was slowly away, raced keen, was looking for a run and had no luck at all when 1.39 lengths 7th. She then chased hard to prevail in the latter stages for a 1.86 length win over 1600m at Newcastle on a soft track on 27 February. From barrier 1 she should get an ideal run and win again.

Lake Tai (Canberra Race 7 No. 2):
This four-year-old Makfi gelding trained by Bjorn Baker at Warwick Farm has only had two races. On debut he battled away for 7.85 lengths 4th over 1200m at Newcastle on 18 February, then ran on strongly from well back for a 0.43 length win over 1400m at Mudgee on 28 February. he should be fitter and is worth an each-way bet.

Best Lay

Zelago (Canberra Race 4 No. 3):
This four-year-old gelding trained by Barbara Joseph and Paul Jones is the early favourite in this BM 70 handicap over 1300m. He finished 4.24 lengths 7th in the SERA Country Championship over 1400m at Goulburn on 16 February, then led all the way for a 1.25 length win in a BM65 over 1400m at Canberra on 7 March. His opposition looks tougher here and he offers no value.

Key Comments The track is in the good range. The best bet has some strong lines and resumes from a break with Fry in the saddle. Best Bet Colleano (Warrnambool Race 7 No. 1) Brings some tidy form lines into this contest including a debut win over Quickster which reads well for this. Recent jumpouts have been rock solid and Fry does the steering from the kind draw. The early market support is a positive sign. Check odds on SmartB Analyst: Bryce
