Carlton v Western Bulldogs

Thursday 24/3/22 @ Docklands

Last 5 Encounters |  Carlton 2  |  Western Bulldogs 3

Notable Changes – Star mid Sam Walsh is back for Carlton but they lose Jack Martin and Adam Cerra due to Covid protocols.  Young gun Baily Smith is out for the Dogs.

Verdict

Cracking game ahead of us to open the round with Carlton having announced themselves as a top 8 contender this year with a win over Richmond last Thursday, and the reigning Grand Finalists the Bulldogs desperate to avoid going 0-2 after going down to Melbourne in the Grand Final rematch.   Both teams have had some distractions with their senior coach this week.  For the Bulldogs it was self inflicted with Luke Beveridge losing his cool at a journo and being forced to apologise.  Carlton on the other hand will be with out Michael Voss who is insolation with covid.  I still find Carlton a hard team to trust and therefor the line looks about right here.  Disposal market is where I want to play.  Jack Macrae averaged 33 disposals last year and continued on his merry way racking up 39 disposals in round 1.  Happy to have a small play on him Most Disposals Group 1.

Suggested bet – 1 Unit Jack Macrae Most Disposals Group 1 @ $2.25

Sydney Swans v Geelong Cats

Friday 25/3/22 @ SCG

Last 5 Encounters |  Sydney 1  |  Geelong 4

Notable Changes – Jake Lloyd back for Sydney.  Jeremy Cameron expected to miss for Geelong.

Verdict

Plenty of rain forecast in Sydney ahead of this mouth watering clash.  The Swans could not of been more impressive in their win over the GWS in an extremely high pressure game of footy.  Equally the Cats who many had written off as too old and slow to be a premiership threat this year came out and destroyed a young Essendon side who have final aspirations.  Geelong dominate the recent record but I think the Swans can get one back on the Cats here.  That hard tough game against GWS is a better prep run for this than Geelongs training drill at the MCG against a listless Dons.

Suggested bet – 2 Units Sydney Line (-4.5) @ $1.90 (Sportsbet)

Port Adelaide Power v Hawthorn Hawks

Saturday 26/3/22 @ Adelaide Oval

Last 5 Encounters |  Port Adelaide 3  |  Hawthorn 2

Notable Changes – No teams at time of writing

Verdict

Hawthorn got the job done against North Melbourne in round 1 and are expected to welcome back their skipper Ben McEvoy for this.  Port Adelaide were in front at Half Time against the Lions on the road but were eventually succumbed to the Lions after losing some key players with injury.  Those injuries are of concern here with up to four or five of Port’s more important players a chance to miss.  Given this and a decent enough recent record from the Hawks I am having a small bet on them at the plus.

Suggested bet – 1 Unit Hawthorn Line (+25.5) @ $1.90 (Sportsbet)

North Melbourne v West Coast Eagles

Sunday 27/3/22 @ Docklands

Last 5 Encounters |  West Coast 3  |  North Melbourne 2

Notable Changes – No teams at time of writing

Verdict

Both sides come off losses in round 1.  The West Coast will get some of the cavalry back this week with Shuey, Darling and Duggin expected to be available but they still have a long injury list and were heading in the wrong direction towards the end of last year.  North on the other hand were trending in the right direction and will have happy memories from when they beat West Coast on the road last year in their best win of the season.  Marked this game pick them.  North a bet here with the start.

Suggested bet – 1.5 Units North Melbourne (+4.5) @ $1.90 (Sportsbet)
