Brisbane Lions v Western Bulldogs

Thursday 30/6/22 @ Gabba

Last 5 Encounters |  Brisbane 2  |  Western Bulldogs 3

Verdict

An intriguing game to get us underway in Round 16.

These sides famously met in an epic semi-final last year at this venue with the Western Bulldogs winning by a point in one of the games of the year.

The Western Bulldogs have been building in recent times and have won five out of their last six games.

Brisbane have come off the boil a bit after a strong start, having won just two of their last five.  Although all of those losses were on the road and they get back to the Gabba here with some key personnel back.

The Bulldogs get Lachie Hunter back but lose Caleb Daniel who is an important player in their back half and there is still no sign of ruck man Tim English on the team sheet.

Having a small play here on either Joe Daniher or Daniel McStay to kick the most goals in the game.  They should get enough supply here against the undersized Bulldogs backline.

Suggested Bet

  • .4 Units Joe Daniher Most Goals @ $4.80 (Top Sport)
  • .1 Units Daniel McStay Most Goals @ $18 (Top Sport)

Carlton Blues v St Kilda Saints

Friday 1/7/22 @ Docklands

Last 5 Encounters |  Carlton 2  |  St Kilda 3

Verdict

Speaking of sides who have come off the boil…  St Kilda have done just that over the last three weeks and will be desperate to steady the ship under the Friday night lights.

Carlton on the other hand are air borne and full of belief under their new coach Michael Voss.  Despite a list of key injuries they continue to get the job done and look almost certain to play finals footy now.

I think the deciding factor in this contest will be the midfield battle.  St Kilda will have the upper hand in the ruck however Carlton’s big bodies loom very large against the smaller St Kilda midfield.

Carlton were far too good when these sides met at the end of last year and should be able to cover this line.

Suggested Bet 1 Unit Carlton to cover the line (-9.5) @ $1.90 (Sportsbet)

Greater Western Sydney Giants v Hawthorn Hawks

Sunday 3/7/22 @ Giants Stadium

Last 5 Encounters |  GWS 2 |  Hawthorn 3

Verdict

Greater Western Sydney host the Hawks at Giants Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Both teams have played in some high scoring games this season but I think we can expect anything but that with torrential rain forecast in Sydney over the weekend.

This total points market should only trend one way in the lead up to kick off.  And that is downwards.

Looks to be plenty of value here at the under 144.5 currently on offer.

Suggested Bet – 1 Unit Total Match Points (144.5) – UNDER @ $1.90 (Sportsbet)
