Richmond Tigers v Carlton Blues

Thursday 16/6/22 @ MCG

Last 5 Encounters |  Richmond 4  |  Carlton 1

Verdict

Two of the inform sides of the competition meet in a cracking opening to round 13 on Thursday night.

Key forward Tom Lynch – returning from a hamstring injury – is a big in for Richmond.  Especially given Cartlon’s lack of available key backs.  Mid season recruit Sam Durden has been rushed into the Blues side to cover the likes of Weitering, McGovern & Marchbank who are all out injured.

Richmond lose Dustin Martin with illness.  He is always a big out but especially so against the big bodied clearance beasts from Carlton.

Despite the backline issues for the Blues I am leaning their way here.  They got the points over Richmond for the first time in a long time in Round 1 and their strength is stoppage, which is Richmond’s weakness.  Territory from stoppage will likely prove crucial on a cold and wet night at the MCG.

Suggested Bet – 1 Unit Carlton to win @ $2.1 (Pointsbet)

St Kilda Saints v Essendon Bombers

Friday 17/6/22 @ Docklands

Last 5 Encounters |  St Kilda 2  |  Essendon 3

Verdict

Essendon brought an increased level of effort against Carlton in their 150th celebration game last week but were still left wanting.  The Bombers are getting scored against two easily this season on transition and there is still no sign of improvement in this area.

St Kilda were gallant in defeat against Brisbane in Brisbane.  They stuck with the Lions for most of the night before a combination of injuries and class saw Brisbane get the upper hand late.

This is clearly a much easier assignment for St Kilda back under the roof at Docklands and they will be desperate to bank the four points plus some percentage before facing a tough run of games against sides in the top eight.

Suggested Bet 1 Unit St Kilda to cover the line (-22.5) @ $1.90 (Pointsbet)

West Coast Eagles v Geelong Cats

Saturday 18/6/22 @ Perth

Last 5 Encounters |  West Coast 2 |  Geelong 3

Verdict

Weather conditions look set to play a pivotal role in this clash over in the West, with the weather bureau predicting 10-20mm of rain to hit Perth on Saturday evening.

Wet conditions combined with Geelong’s miserly defence and West Coast’s inability to hit the score board and every indication points towards this being a really low scoring game.

Furthermore 5 of Geelong’s last 6 matches have gone under the total points line.

Suggested Bet – 1 Unit Total Match Points (145.5) – UNDER @ $1.90 (Sportsbet)
