Hot Lover (Flemington Race 3 No. 2)
With 4 wins and a 2nd from 6 starts, this Bel Esprit colt trained by Patrick Payne at Plumpton should be hard to beat again. He was an odds-on favourite in a field of four at Echuca when he shied near the post and came from last on the turn for an easy 2.3 length win over 1300m on 15 April. He followed that with a 1.8 length win over 1400m at his first Flemington start on 5 May, and was drawing away on the line.
Mental (Doomben Race 6 No. 6)
This Lonhro colt trained by Peter Snowden has 4 wins and a place from 7 starts. He was held up and was an unlucky 1.1 lengths 4th over 1400m in a Listed Flemington race on 5 November, then went for a spell. He resumed with a 2.8 length win over 1200m at Hawkesbury on 5 May, with blinkers on. Has drawn nicely in barrier 4 and looks set for another win.

Kirribilli Gold (Flemington Race 6 No 6)
One of only 4 horses in the race to have won over 3200m or longer, this six-year-old mare trained by Robert Smerdon has won 3 of 5 starts this campaign. She won by 10 lengths in a 3200m maiden hurdle at Warrnambool on 1 May, then won by 6 lengths over 2400m at Sandown Hillside on 9 May where she picked them off and put them away at the 300m, drawing away under hands only riding. Racing in great heart and looks a nice each-way bet at the current price of $5. |
