Sandown Park Racecourse

Sandown races are run at Sandown Park Racecourse, which is now known as Betfair Park. The Sandown racecourse actually has two racetracks called the Sandown and Hillside racecourses.

Sandown is the only metropolitan racecourse built in the 20th century. Sandown was first built in 1965 and then redeveloped by the Melbourne Racing Club in 2003.

The redevelopment of the Sandown racecourse saw two tracks made. These are called the Sandown Lakeside and the Sandown Hillside Racecourses.

The Sandown racing complex is also used as a quarantine centre for overseas horses that head to Australia for the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival.
