Horse Racing
The major race of the day is in Perth. The Group 2 $500,000 Player-Winterbottom Stakes over 1200 metres has a field of 14 runners. The early market has Lucky Secret as $3.40 as he performs really well at this distance with 5 wins from 7 starts over 1200m. Next in the betting are Ortensia and Waratah’s Secret both at $4.80, Idyllic Prince at $6, Kid Choisir at $9.50, Black In Time at $12 then Revolition and Let Go Thommo both at $18.
Waratah’s Secret is a WA three-year old who is unbeaten in 4 starts and is all speed. With only 53.5kg on his back he may be able to win again in this tougher competition. Ortensia is one of only 2 mares in the race and found the 1600m of the Railway a little too far last week but should do better at this distance. Lucky Secret loves the distance and has won with bigger weights than the 58.5kg he will carry here.
