The Group 1 Thrifty Royal Randwick Guineas over 1600 metres at Randwick has attracted a field of 17 three-year-olds, with Arapaho Miss being the only filly. This years race sees a wide range of talent ranging from a horse that has only broken his maiden status at Kembla earlier this month to the well-fancied Weekend Hustler. Weekend Hustler has already won 4 Group 1’s but this will be his first time racing the Sydney way of going and he will be stepping up to the mile after his last 2 wins over 1100m and 1200m. Largo Lad from Wangaratta is an interesting runner who flew home in the Cadbury Guineas after being held up for a run.
