The main support race of the day is the Group 3 $200,000 Carlton Draught Tattersall’s Cup Handicap over 2200 metres. There is a field of thirteen with the topweight Rampant Lion carrying 58kg. Rampant Lion was second in this race last year behind Ice Chariot, but only carried the minimum of 53kg then. Trainer Lindsay Gough believes he has been harshly treated with the weight as he meets Bianca only 1kg better than the last start in the Ipswich Cup where she beat him easily by 2 lengths. The Gai Waterhouse trained Bianca looks hard to beat again even though she has only had two wins from seventeen starts. Ballack, trained by Danny O’Brien, looks like a solid stayer with successive wins at Cranbourne and Moonee Valley and then two placings at Flemington, with the latest over 2500m on May 31. Hy Dream likes Eagle Farm with three wins and a placing from his 5 starts there.
