The Group 3 $125,000 Summer Cup over 2400 metres at Randwick Racecourse has a field of 12 stayers. The early market has Scouting Wide and Zazabeau as joint favourites at $3.20, followed by Bright Mind at $7.
The Bart Cummings trained Zazabeau has only won 2 of his 25 starts but stormed home to win over 2000 metres last start and is looking for this distance. Scouting Wide is a genuine stayer whose last 3 starts have all been over 2400m for 2 wins and a 2nd in smaller fields than this. Bright Mind was second last start behind Scouting Wide and seems to be on the improve.
