07 AFL Bownlow Medal betting update

A leading Australian bookmaker has declared that West Coast star Chris Judd only needs to stay on the park to take a second Brownlow medal following the suspension of teammate Daniel Kerr.

Sportingbet Australia AFL Manager Stephen Fletcher said the suspension of Kerr will help Judd win a second Brownlow in more ways than one.

“Not only was Kerr a major contender for the medal but for votes week in and week out and you can lock in Judd picking up at least three votes as Kerr watched the next two weeks from the stand.

“We have Judd a ruling $3.25 favourite and I can’t see any of the blokes in the market chasing him down if he stays on the park.”

Chad Cornes ($5.50), Jimmy Bartel ($8.00) and Gary Ablett are next in the market and Fletcher said they all faced an uphill battle to trump Judd.

“Port Adelaide are a top 6, if not a top 4 side and they have plenty of players good enough to steal the votes from Chad Cornes over the duration of the season,” said Fletcher”

“Geelong will fall away as the season gets to crunch time and will take Bartel and Ablett’s Brownlow hopes with them.”

Flectcher said if there was to be bolter for the Brownlow it could be Brisbane superstar Johnathan Brown at $21.

“Brown is amongst the best players in the league, always polls well and has been well backed with a bet of $6000 at $21 a couple of weeks ago but he will be double teamed most weeks which will make it hard for him,” said Fletcher.
