A field of ten two-year-olds will line up for the $250,000 Group 2 Schweppes Sires’ Produce Stakes over 1400 metres. The winner of this race will be exempt from any ballot for the TJ Smith Handicap.
The favourite is Sydney colt Fravashi who has won both of his 2 starts against horses who have won well at subsequent starts. New Zealand colt Captain Fantastic is well fancied after a good second at his first Australian start.
The best of the Queensland horses looks to be Cat D’Antibes with two wins and a place from his three starts, ahead of the John Morrisey trained Rockdale. Cat D’Antibes is ridden by Glen Colless who won this race in 2001 on Juanmo. Saratoga is the only filly in the race.
Last year the QTC Sires Produce was won by Masked Assassin.
