Doncaster Mile – Randwick
There is a fantastic 9 race program at Randwick with four Group 1 races. The main event is the $2 million Group 1 Emirates Doncaster Mile over 1600 metres for three-year-olds and upwards. The early betting for the nineteen horse field is very open with the early favourite All Silent at $5.50. Next in the market is Hot Danish at $7.50, Vision and Power at $9, Whobegotyou $9.50, Neroli $11, Theseo and Largo Lad both at $12, Solo Flyer at $14 and Black Piranha at $15.
There are many great chances in this race. Vision and Power has had a wonderful campaign and drops 7.5kg on his last start win in the George Ryder over 1500 metres, Hot Danish is a quality mare with 10 wins and 3 seconds from 15 starts and is capable of beating the boys. King Mufhasa ($16) is a New Zealander who ran a good third in the George Ryder, and Solo Flyer has won his last three in a row.

AJC Sires Produce – Randwick
The $500,000 Group 1 Sydney Children’s Hospital Sires Produce Stakes over 1400 metres has attracted a field of nine two-year-olds. The early market has Phelan Ready favourite at $3.20 ahead of Tickets at $4.50, Manhattan Rain at $4.80, New Day Rising at $6, Delago Bolt and Rostova both at $8.50, and Romanus at $17.
Phelan Ready won the Golden Slipper in brilliant style on 4 April, and looks the winner again here. Rostova is a classy filly with good Victorian form who didn’t handle the Sydney way of going well in the Golden Slipper but she won the Sires Produce in Victoria 2 starts back. Manhattan Rain ran on well for third in the Golden Slipper.

AJC Oaks – Randwick
The Group 1 $500,000 Patinack Farm AJC Oaks over 2400 metres is a set-weight race for three-year-old fillies. It has attracted a full field of 18 runners plus 4 emergencies. The early market is fairly open with Miss Darcey as $4.80 favourite, ahead of Purple and Gallica both at $6.50 then Zapurple at $8. All other runners are over $10.
The track is likely to be heavy which will favour Purple who has won both her starts on heavy going. Most of the fillies haven’t raced beyond 2000 metres, but Zapurple won the SA Classic over 2500 metres on 4 April and Miss Lily Rose ($18) ran second. Daffodil ($17) came fourth in the NZ Oaks over 2400 metres and was only 1.2 lengths from the winner. Gallica is an excellent filly with 6 wins and 4 placings from her 12 starts.
