Magic Millions 2YO Classic – Gold Coast
This Saturday sees the main races taking place on the Gold Coast. The biggest money race of the day is the $2 Million Conrad Jupiters Magic Millions 2YO Classic over 1200 metres and there is a full field of 16 plus 5 emergencies. The early market has Paprika as a clear favourite at $2.50 ahead of Horizons at $7.50, Racing Pegasus at $8 and Shadow Assassin at $8.50.
Paprika has had 4 starts for 4 wins and it is hard to pick anything to beat her. Gai Waterhouse has Shadow Assassin who won his only start, and Horizons who has had a second and a win from her two starts. Racing Pegasus has won both her career starts.
Jo’s tips: 1. Paprika, 2. Racing Pegasus, 3. Shadow Assassin
Magic Millions 3YO Trophy – Gold Coast
The $1 Million Conrad Jupiters Magic Millions 3YO Trophy over 1400 metres also has a full field of 16 plus 5 emergencies. The early favourite is the Toowoomba trained Express Air at $3.30, followed by Rock Kingdom at $4.60, Bhutane Dane at $8.50 and Feline Flyer at $9. The rest are at double figure odds.
Rock Kingdom has won four of his five starts, from 1200 to 1600 metres, and was less than a head away at his other start. He has drawn wide in gate 17 but is still a danger. Express Air has 2 wins and 3 seconds from her 6 starts, and Feline Flyer has won 4 of her 7 starts, with 3 wins at this track.
Jo’s tips: 1. Rock Kingdom, 2. Express Air, 3. Feline Flyer
Rubiton Stakes – Caulfield
The $100,000 Group 3 Rubiton Stakes over 1100 metres is the main races at Caulfield and has a small field of six runners. The early market has Lucky Secret as an odds-on favourite at $1.45. Lucky Secret has won nine of his thirteen starts, all between 1000 and 1200 metres. He has been place twice, and his only unplaced run was his last start on 6 November when he raced down the wrong side of the Straight Six track. He is a son of Rubiton, so it would be great to see him win a race named in honour of his sire.
Happy Glen was won his last 4 starts in a row, mostly by very small margins, and Mind Your Head has won both his starts after a long spell.
Jo’s tips: 1. Lucky Secret, 2. Happy Glen, 3. Mind Your Head
