The Golden Slipper festival component of the Autumn Racing Carnival continues at Rosehill racecourse on Saturday with nine races. The main race is the Group 1 $500,000 Darley Rosehill Guineas for three-year-olds over 2000 metres. There are also two Group 2 races for two-year-olds over 1200 metres which may give an insight into the Golden Slipper. The Magic Night Stakes is for fillies and the Pago Pago Stakes is for colts and geldings.
Rosehill Guineas Betting
There is a field of 11 runners and Centrebet has Rock Classic and Shoot Out as equal favourites at $3.50. Both horses won their last start over 1600 metres at Group 1 level. Next in the market is Zabrasive at $6.50, Captain Sonador at $9, Run For Naara (the only filly in the field) at $10, Hanks at $13, Extra Zero at $15, Kidnapped at $18 and Cosmocrat at $21. Gathering is currently at $51 and Saint Encosta is $101.
Lead Up Races to the Rosehill Guineas
Traditional lead-up races to the Rosehill Guineas are the Hobartville Stakes over 1400 metres at Rosehill which is run 4 weeks prior, and the Randwick Guineas over 1600 metres run 2 weeks prior. Five runners in the Rosehill Guineas ran in the Hobartville and the best-performed was Shoot Out who ran second. Eight of the 11 runners had their last start in the Randwick Guineas including 2 of the 3 Victoria entries Hanks and Cosmocrat (the other Victorian is Extra Zero). Shoot Out won the Randwick Guineas.
