Horse Racing
The Group 1 $500,000 Rokk Ebony Futurity Stakes is a standard weight-for-age race for three-year olds and upwards over 1600 metres at Caulfield. It is the seventh race in a nine event program with several quality supporting races including the Group 2 The Yalumba 161, and Listed races the Chairman’s Stakes, JRA Stakes and Victoria Gold Cup.
The 2010 Futurity Stakes has the smallest field of the day with only 6 runners, even though it is the first leg of the Asian Mile Challenge Series. The Asian Mile Challenge offers a US$1 million bonus to any horse who can win two of the four legs of the Challenge.
2010 Futurity Stakes Betting
With only six horses, the favourite Typhoon Tracy is at the short price of $1.65 in the fixed price early market with Centrebet. Next in the betting is Dao Dao at $5.50, Sniper’s Bullet at $6, Joku at $13 and Lord Tavistock at $19. Barbaricus is the longest priced runner at $91.
Fillies and Mares in the Futurity Stakes
Typhoon Tracy is the only mare in the small field for 2010. Since the Futurity Stakes was first run in 1898 only 9 female horses have won the race with the last one being Aqua d’Amore in 2007. Only one mare has won the race more than once, with Gladsome winning in 1905 and 1906.
