Currently there are almost a hundred horses in the market, The David Payne trained Praecido has had 10 career starts for one win in a 7 horse field at Kensington in March, and a second to Lion Tamer in the Ming Dynasty at Randwick on 4 September. Lion Tamer is a New Zealand horse who had his last New Zealand start at Ellerslie over 1600m on 17 April which he won well. His only Australian start was 4 September where he was making good progress until interrupted by a tiring horse at the 250m mark. Despite the heavy track he was still able to pick himself up for another run and win the race.

Toorak Toff is a very smart horse who won the Golden Rose over 1400m at his last start on 28 August to give him 5 wins from 8 runs. Sea Lord is another horse fro the David Payne stable with only 2 runs under his belt for a second and a third. Connections obviously think highly of the horse as he is also nominated for the Epsom. Anacheeva has 4 starts for 2 wins and was a close fourth behind Skilled and Sasa in the Champagne Stakes on 24 April.

The early betting at SportsBet has the market wide open with Praecido as $7 favourite ahead of Lion Tamer at $7.50. Next are Toorak Toff and Sea Lord both at $10, Anacheeva at $12, Al Aseel at $13, Giresun at $15, Cosmonaut at $16 then Erewhon, Goldstone, Fibrillation, Retrieve and Nextanix all at $17, Reem at $19 and Backgammon at $21. All other nominations are 25 to 1 and longer.

At those prices it seems a good bet to put something on Toorak Toff at 10 to 1.
