The 2011 Cricket World Cup is well underway. The first game was played on 19 February and the final will take place on 2 April. Australia played their first game in the 2011 Cricket World Cup on 21 February where they beat Zimbabwe by 91 runs. Their second game was against New Zealand on 25 February where they won by 7 wickets with 96 balls remaining. The next game will be against Sri Lanka on 5 March. The Sri Lanka team are playing well. Their first game was against Canada and they won by 210 runs then they faced Pakistan and lost by just 11 runs in an exciting game.
Australia’s Performance in Past Cricket World Cups
Australia has won the last three consecutive World Cups. These were in 2007, 2003 and 1999 as it is only held every 4 years. Obviously they are keen to maintain their title, but there is going to be fierce competition, particularly from host nations India and Sri Lanka.
