2010 Warwick Stakes
There is an eight race program at Warwick Farm and the track is likely to be rated dead or maybe slow by Saturday. The feature race is the Group 2 $175,000 100 Club Warwick Stakes weight-for-age race over 1400 metres and there is a field of fourteen runners.
Runners in the 2010 Warwick Stakes at Warwick Farm
Eleven of the 14 runners are resuming from a spell. Danleigh and Sniper’s Bullet resumed in the Missile Stakes on 7 August where they ran 2nd and 3rd, while Innings raced twice in July. Chris Waller may hold the key to this race with three good runners Danleigh, Metal Bender and Triple Honour. Theseo has not raced since the Doncaster in April and although he usually requires a run before he shows his best he has had a couple of trials and looks very fit.
Count Encosta is a lightly raced and very promising runner with only seven starts. He won three in a row at the end of his last campaign, finishing with the Group 2 Tulloch and is one to keep an eye on although the weight-for-age may not suit. Danleigh has a great second-up record and half of his wins have been at this distance. There are lots of good horses resuming with at least half the field having won at Group 1 level so this is a very had race to pick a winner.
