The Group 1 $1,000,000 Newmarket Handicap is an open handicap over 1200 metres held in autumn each year. It is run at Flemington racecourse and will be held on Saturday 6 March. This is always a great race to watch as it is the only race at Flemington that can have 24 starters, other than the Melbourne Cup.
IASbet Newmarket Handicap Market
With final declarations for the 2010 Newmarket Handicap not announced until Monday 3 March, IASbet has 34 horses in the fixed price early betting market. The market is wide open with early favourite All Silent at $5. Next in the market is Eagle Falls at $9, Wanted at $10, Starspangledbanner and Turffontein both at $13, Weekend Hussler at $14 then Hay List, Headway, King Pulse, Nicconi and Tollesprit all at $17.
Runners Currently at 20-1 or Longer
There are many good runners that you can currently get odds of 20 to 1 and more for. Horses at $21 are Duporth, El Segundo, Shellscrape, Swift Alliance, Tickets and Trusting. Avenue, Gran Sasso, Light Fantastic and Sister Madly are all at $26. Tarzi is the longest priced runner at $201.
Shop Around for Long Priced Runners
Early betting markets are a great place to get value, particularly for longer-priced runners. SportsBet, Centrebet and IASbet all have very similar markets for the first dozen horses but there are differences to be found for longer priced runners.
