2010 Magic Millions Raceday – Gold Coast

Saturday 9th January is the BMW Magic Millions Race Day at the Gold Coast Racecourse. There are 10 races starting at 11.40 and most of the races have capacity fields. The big prizemoney races are Race 7 the $2,000,000 BMW Magic Millions 2YO Classic over 1200 metres and Race 6 the $1,000,000 Queensland Racing Magic Millions 3YO Trophy. The 2YO Classic was first run in 1987 and is restricted to horses sold at the Magic Millions Yearling Sales.

Military Rose is unbeaten in 3 starts and according to Centrebet has had plenty of betting support. She is sired by General Nediym who won the race in 1997 and sired 2003 winner Regimental Gal.

This race also has a full field of 16 plus 5 emergencies. Love Conquers All is $4.40 favourite with SportsBet followed by Shoot Out at $5, Graceful Anna at $5.50 and Deer Valley at $7. The rest are at double figures. Centrebet has had good support for Shoot Out.

Deer Valley and Daniel Ganderton

Daniel Ganderton has been suspended for 2 months following an inquiry into his ride last week. Deer Valley was favourite and finished 6th and stewards were concerned with his lack of riding vigour from the 500m to the 350m. However connections have still kept him on Deer Valley for the 3YO Trophy which will be his only ride on Saturday. He has lodged an appeal against the two month suspension.
