Horse Racing
The Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes is Victoria’s premier two-year-old race and this year the race has prizemoney of $1 million plus trophies. It is run at Caulfield racecourse and will be held on Saturday 20 February. Although it is over 2 weeks until the final field is set there is a lot of interest in the youngsters who are expected to take part.
IASbet Blue Diamond Market
There are currently about 50 two-year-olds in the Blue Diamond early betting market at IASbet. The first line of betting has Crystal Lily, Secession and Star Witness all at $8. They are followed by Beneteau at $9, Pellizottti at $10, General Truce and Shaaheq both at $13, Innocent Gamble at $15, She’s Got Gears, Sweet Cheeks and Tricky Tricky all at $17 and Evidentia at $21. The rest of the field is at $26 or longer with 5 horses at $201 or longer.
Star Witness Could be Diamond Favourite
Star Witness was backed into equal $8 favourite after his impressive win in the Talindert Stakes at Flemington on Saturday, after being around $15 a week ago. The Danny O’Brien trained horse looked impressive when winning his debut at Moonee Valley in late November. Equal favourite Crystal Lily won the Blue Diamond Preview for fillies race by 3 lengths on Australia Day, while the other equal favourite Secession won at Flemington at his debut and will race in the Blue Diamond Stakes Preludes at Caulfield on February 6.
Bet Early to Get the Best Blue Diamond Price
If you’ve already picked a horse you like in the Diamond then it is best to bet early at fixed prices. As the number of horses are reduced then the favourites will get shorter and you won’t get as good a price.
