The $150,000 Queensland Cup over 3200 metres has attracted a field of 14 stayers at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
It is one of the few remaining 3200 metre (the old 2 miles) races left on the Australian calendar and every horse in the field is from an imported sire with Great Britain, Ireland , New Zealand, USA and France all represented.
Eight of the 14 runners went around in the 2400 metre Caloundra Cup last Saturday. Of those that didn’t the most interesting runner is Reichman who won his last start over 3067 metres at Mornington by over 3 lengths and looks to have the makings of a solid stayer. He has had 4 of his 5 wins on heavy going and showers are forecast for Friday and Saturday.
Kerdem is expected to be favourite after he ran on strongly at the end of last weeks Caloundra Cup. He will be ridden by Scott Seamer. Tedriffic and Sky Biscuit also went to the post solidly last week and can be expected to be there at the finish.
