Get your Strawberries and Cream ready as the 2007 Wimbledon Championship is almost here. The most prestigious event on the tennis calendar will run between the 25 June and the 9 July.
The championship has been played since 1877, making Wimbledon the longest running and most sought after Grand Slam events.
In 2006 Roger Federer continued his dominance on grass beating Rafael Nadal and retaining the championship for the fourth year in succession. In the ladies singles championship, Amelie Mauresmo was triumphant over the Belgian Justine Henin.
This year in the mens singles Federer will be keen to continue his reign, particularly after coming runner up in the French Open in June. Lleyton Hewitt is keen to make a comeback and will be looking to repeat his success when he won the event in 2002.
In the ladies singles the contenders for the championship include Justine Henin, Serena Williams, Amelie Mauresm, Maria Sharapova and Svetlana Kuznetsova
