Centre Court hots up at Rod Laver arena as the Australian Open rolls around for another year. The tournament will be held at Melbourne Park and will offer an exciting fortnight of international tennis starting on the 15 January 2007.
The Australian Open always attracts a heap of top class international tennis stars to Melbourne and this year will be no exception. The top players on the circuit will be displaying their skills and no doubt their emotions on centre court as they battle to make their mark on the first Grand Slam tournament for 2007.
The draw will get off to a smashing start with last year’s champion Federer on centre court aiming to set the scene for what should be another record breaking year.
In the men’s draw the organizers are expecting quality matches with the players to keep an eye on including Nadal, Roddick, Hewitt, Safin, Nalbandian and last year’s crowd favourite Marcus Baghdatis.
The women’s draw is also sure to produce quality match play with top players including Clijsters, Hingis and Sharapova traveling to Melbourne.
Aussie hopes will also be pinned on the likes of Phillipoussis, Healey, Arthurs and former world number one Hewitt. Youngster Robert Smeets and Alicia Molik have also earned wildcards and will be fighting to prove they have earned their places in the main draw.
