Hawkesbury will host Sydney’s only race meeting on Saturday at a “Stand Alone” meeting. The provincial meeting is the last feature day of the revamped NSW autumn calendar which has spanned 50 days of racing around the state.
The $100,000 Bookmaker’s Super Fund Hawkesbury Guineas is the only listed race on the eight event program and has attracted a field of eleven.
It is a race for three-year-olds over 1400 metres and the top weight is the Grahame Begg trained colt Acey Ducey. Five of the eleven starters were the first five in a six horse field in last Wednesday’s South Pacific Classic.
These are Royal Discretion, Turffontein, Cigar Royale, Acey Ducey and Pistols (in that order). The early favourite is Royal Discretion trained by Gai Waterhouse who won his last start over this distance.
The only filly in the race is Tenant’s Tiara who has been nominated for 2 races. She has won 3 of her 4 starts and has a strong chance in this race.
