County Tyrone won the Sydney Cup in 2006 carrying 55 kgs in a time of 3:22.69. He was ridden by Jim Cassidy and trained by Kris Lees. Zabeat was second and Three Chimneys finished third. County Tyrone was second in both 2003 and 2005.
The most recent horse to win the crown twice is Tie The Knot, who won in 1999 and 1998 with R. S. Dye in the saddle.
