Nine runners will line up for the $3,000,000 Ladbrokes Cox Plate as Winx attempts to emulate Kingston Town and win the race three years in a row. Winx is, of course, the favourite at a short odds-on price that is still better than bank interest. She has won her last 21 starts in a row and has truly earned that short price. Second favourite is three-year-old Royal Symphony. Third favouritism is a three-way split between Cranbourne Cup winner Folkswood, Caulfield Stakes winner Gailo Chop and Makybe Diva Stakes winner Humidor.
Happy Clapper has much better lead-up form this year than when he finished 6th in this race. Kaspersky has good European form but was less than impressive in the Toorak at his first Australian start. Hardham wil struggle in this class and Seaburge needs to show improvement.
The following are the top 4 selections from our tipster panel for this years race.
|8 Winx||8 Winx||8 Winx|
|9 Royal Symphony||9 Royal Symphony||5 Folkswood|
|2 Gailo Chop||2 Gailo Chop||9 Royal Symphony|

The Cox Plate is held each year at the Moonee Valley Racecourse which is located only a few minutes away from the centre of Melbourne. The Moonee Valley Committee decided to run the weight for age race in honour of the Tracks founder, Sam Cox. Positioned between the Caulfield Cup, Melbourne Cup and the Victoria Derby, the Cox Plate quickly became a horse race of importance.
