Back: To bet, punt or wager. Box Trifecta: To win a 'box trifecta' you simply need to specify the three horses that will finish in the first three placings, irrespective of the order. Daily Double: Type of bet in which you must select the winners of two specific races. Each way: An each way bet is when you bet the same
amount on the horse for a win and for a place. Length: A length is approximately three metres. On The Nose: Betting a horse to win only. Place: A horse scores a place when it finishes
in the first three across the line. If there are only seven or less
runners the horse must finish either first or second to place. Quinella: Type of bet in which you have to correctly select the first two horses in a race in any order. Running Double: You have to correctly select the winner in two consecutive races. Straight Six: You have to correctly pick the winner of six consecutive races. Scratch/Scratched: To be withdrawn from a race before it begins. Trifecta: You have to correctly select the first three horses in a race in the exact order.
